Read Full Project Description

Framing a spectacular vista of the Adelaide Hills through a native gumtree forest and koala sanctuary, the residence cascades down a hillside offering high ceilings and panoramic views. The architectural form and material character present minimal visual impact to the street and appears to "float" above the ground, sitting "lightly" on the site which is landscaped with fire-resistant vegetation.

Incorporated into the architecture are concealed water collection and storage tanks, as well as an embedded photovoltaic solar farm on the roof for energy generation. Combined with on-site sewage treatment and other thermal performance and environmental sustainability features, this residence is largely autonomous and independent of the public utility grid.
